Saint-Pol-de-Léon is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful villages in North Finistère, and a great place to visit during your stay in Morlaix Bay. The old port of Pempoul, just a stone’s throw from the Ar Kleguer campsite, was the departure point for ancient ships bound for Brazil, and the town is also a former bishopric with an exceptional architectural heritage.

You can visit the ancient Notre-Dame du Kreisker chapel, as well as the Saint-Paul Aurélien cathedral. It also boasts one of the finest and richest markets in France. Last but not least, Saint-Pol-de-Léon is a lively cultural center, where people flock to enjoy its rich cultural and heritage events, proof of the dynamism of the local population!

In the heart of Morlaix Bay and facing the Pointe du Kleguer, the charming commune of Carantec is a popular seaside resort that has been well-developed for over a century, and is one of the most beautiful villages in North Finistère. A visit to Carantec reveals a rich, agricultural history, with traces of a military past. The town was fortified by Vauban, and its beaches can be used as landing places, unlike the jagged coasts of Roscoff. The Bay of Morlaix can be explored by boat or kayak, where you’ll catch a glimpse of Ile Louët, and board the Château du Taureau; situated on an islet, it’s a remarkable old defensive structure. And don’t forget to take a stroll around the magnificent Île Callot at low tide.

From our campsite by the sea in North Finistère, we enjoy Carantec for its swimming and walks along the Douaniers trail, its renowned seafood restaurants, but also for the many sporting activities on offer (diving, sailing, kayaking…).

A special place to visit is the Georges Delaselle garden, a peaceful stroll bearing the marks of the past. While the island’s long-standing maritime tradition has left its mark, its agricultural function is more evident, making it a market-gardening area renowned for the quality of its produce. You’ll be delighted to find these products on the local markets.

Don’t hesitate to climb the steps of the lighthouse on the west side of the island; you won’t be disappointed, with its magnificent views over the whole island and the whole of the Léon region, including the highest point of Finistère in the Monts d’Arrée.

Roscoff is a small town full of character, striking for the excellent preservation of its 16th and 17th century architecture. This remarkable seaside resort owes its rich naval history to its deep-water port, which made it a valuable base for privateers and smugglers.

Even today, the port of Roscoff is the departure point for ferries to England, Ireland and Spain. The old town is also renowned for its abundant and delicious seafood and the gastronomy dedicated to it. There s plenty to do in Roscoff, and from the Bloscon marina you can board a ferry for a Roscoff-England crossing.
