Explore the North Finistère coast
during your camping holiday
Discover the golden belt
and the coast of legends
Brittany boasts one of the longest coastlines in France, with just as many sights and diverse landscapes. Finistère Nord is the upper part of Finistère, with Brest and Morlaix as its main towns. Facing the sea, the region lies at the crossroads of the English Channel, the Celtic Sea, the Iroise Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
The seascapes alternate between different types of rock, islands and wide, unspoilt spaces. The region’s activities have always focused on maritime trade and food production, as it abounds in species and fertile land. Its history, meanwhile, is closely linked to Celtic culture, with a strong identity.
The Golden Belt owes its name to its mild climate and rich soils, ideal for cultivation. Thanks to this environment and good harvests, market gardening in the Bay of Morlaix, Saint Pol and Roscoff is flourishing. In particular with seafood and early vegetables.
The coast of legends, also known as the Abers region, is distinguished by its large, unusually-shaped granite rocks. It is said that giants came here to compete in a stone-throwing contest. As you follow the long coastal paths, the wild landscapes of this unique and authentic coastline leave much to the imagination. Not to be missed is the small village of Meneham, a picturesque fishing village of thatched houses hidden between the rocks behind the dunes.
